if it makes you feel any better, I approach a lot of my life this way. I "meditate" on my next knitting project, the next book I'll read, any home improvement project but especially those involving aesthetic issues like painting, and much of my research work. the facts and feelings need to marinate. so it doesn't surprise me to realize the phase is used in writing novels. not that I am in any danger of ever writing a book. I just thought you might like to know that someone gets it :) no pressure. I think I'll go reread Countess since I gobbled it down the first time...
